The Belt and Road High-end Forum for International Green Chemistry” was held in Lanzhou University

“The Belt and Road High-end Forum for International Green Chemistry” was held at Shaw Science Building of Lanzhou University from July 14 to 16, 2017. This forum was hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry(SKLAOC), Lanzhou University with Yongqiang Tu, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), and Chaojun Li, academician of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences as the chairmen. Over 100 experts and scholars specializing in green chemistry from universities and research institutes of China, America, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherland, Switzerland, Singapore and other countries attended this event. Some of them made keynote speeches, including professor Paul T. Anastas from Yale University who proposed the “Twelve Principles” of green chemistry, professor Roger A. Sheldon, academician of the British Royal Academy of Sciences who proposed “E-factor”, professor Christophe Copéret from Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich(ETHZ), professor Peter Licence from the University of Nottingham(UNUK), professor Deping Luo of Nanyang Technological University and Nanjing University of Science and Technology, professor Xumu Zhang from South University of Science and Technology, professor Zhenhe Tong, academician of Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS, professor Shengming Ma from Fudan University,  academician of CAS, professor Kuining Ding, academician and director of Shanghai Institute of Organnic Chemistry, CAS, professor Xiaoming Feng, academician of CAS and from Sichuan University, professor Buxing Han, academician of Institute of Chemistry, CAS, professor Jianmin Yue from Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, CAS, professor Ye Wang from Xiamen University and Professor Wang Wei from Lanzhou University.

The theme of this forum was “the Frontiers and Opportunities of Green Chemistry and the Sustainable Development of Chemistry.” Focusing on this theme, not only the latest achievements and developments in green chemistry were fully demonstrated, but also the future development direction of this field was discussed. What’s more, this forum provided an international platform for both Chinese and foreign researchers to exchange ideas and cooperate.
