On the afternoon of February 1, 2021, the Institute of Coordination Chemistry and Functional Materialsof the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineeringheld the 2020 year-end summary meeting in Room 809 of the Second Chemistry Building. The meeting was chaired by Professor Tang Yu, director of the Institute of Coordination Chemistry and Functional Materials. The Institute of Coordination Chemistry and Functional Materials has achieved "five generations get together". The older generation of inorganic chemists, current teachers, post-doctoral fellows and some graduate students gathered together to summarizeand discuss the development of the discipline of inorganic chemistry at Lanzhou University.

Firstly,Professor Tang Yu reported work of the institute in 2020 from the aspects of party branch construction, the faculty, talent training, scientific research, social services, academic exchanges, platform construction, etc.He sorted out the next work process and made a work plan for 2021.15 teachers respectively introduced their teaching and scientific research results, as well as future development plans.

Professor Yang Rudong, Professor Wang Liufang and Professor Zeng Zhengzhi reviewed the hard work of Lanzhou University's inorganic chemistry for decades, fully affirmed the development of the Institute in recent years, and encouraged everyone to work hard and contribute to the development of the discipline.Liu Weisheng, Yang Ying, Tang Yu, Wang Baodui, Bu Weifeng, Qin Wenwu, Xi Pinxian, Cao Jing, Zhang Haijun, Haijun, Chen Fengjuan, Chen Shoushun, Dou Wei, Tang Xiaoliang, Yang Lizi and other teachers shared their experience ineducation and teaching, personnel training, scientific research and technological development.

For decades, the discipline of inorganic chemistry at Lanzhou University has been exploring through hard work and developing through innovation, exploring and blazing an extraordinary path of development under the continuous efforts of several generations. The masters have great love, they stick to the west, they are willing to be the ladder of others, their scientific spirit of hard exploration, pioneering and enterprising, and the dedication to serve the country enthusiastically, regardless of gains or losses has always led and inspiredthe younger generations, it has laid a solid foundation for the discipline of inorganic chemistry at Lanzhou University.Current teachers and graduate students have expressed that they will continue to uphold the school motto of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of "Unity, Endeavor, Realistic, and Innovative", and work hard to pass on the excellent scientific culture and solid academic traditions to make the discipline of inorganic chemistry to reach a higher level in the new development period.

Professor Yan Chunhua attended the meeting. He fondly recalled the guidance and help he received from several generations of inorganic chemists at Lanzhou University during his growth, and expressed his respect for the older generation of inorganic chemists at Lanzhou University. He revisited General Secretary Xi Jinping’s "four aspects" requirements for scientific research with everyone, and emphasized the importance of discipline development and the inheritance and promotion of scientific culture and the spirit of scientists in the growth of teachers and students, the importance of communication and teamwork in scientific research, and the importance of combining production, teaching, research and application, he suggested that we should not only focusing on the frontiers of science, but also focusing on the needs of national and regional economic, social and industrial development.

This conference will help to inherit the fine traditions of the discipline, condense innovation wisdom, and exchange academic ideas. It is of positive significance for accelerating the development of the discipline of inorganic chemistry and promoting the school’s “double first-class” construction. It is also an important part of the construction of grassroots party branches and deepening the ideological and political work of teachers and students.
