On the afternoon of April 9th, the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering convened all students of Grade 2020 Chemistry Strong Foundation Plan Class to hold a meeting at A212, the second teaching building in Yuzhong campus. The meeting was presided over by Vice President Hui Xinping, and attended byJia Jing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Lanzhou University, Chen Xiaoming, a young researcher and Liang Juan, the grade counselor of Grade 2020 Chemistry Strong Foundation Plan Class.

At the meeting,grade counselor Liang Juan made comparative statistics on the grade performance in the fall semester of 2020 for all students in the strong foundation plan class with detailed data, focusing on the vertical and horizontal comparison.

Students at the meeting warmly asked questions about the training program of the Strong Foundation Program, scientific research tutors, off campus exchanges and other issues they were concerned about, and Vice Dean Hui Xinping answered them one by one. Hui pointed out that the Strong Foundation Program aims to cultivate leading talents in basic disciplines. Students can determine their own scientific research tutors through two-way selection, and undertake scientific research training projects as project leaders during their undergraduate period. Affected by the epidemic, some international exchange projects have been suspended, and the college will send outstanding students to participate in a number of recent domestic academic exchange activities. Meanwhile,the college also plans to set up a special scholarship for students of the Strong Foundation Program to provide more support.

Deputy Secretary Jia Jing encouraged the students to set lofty goals, gradually lay a good academic foundation for their studies, live up to expectations of all sides, become role models among young students, and make contribution to the development of chemistry.

At last, Vice Dean Hui Xinping said that as the first batch of freshmen of the Strong Foundation Program, the college will pay more attention and expectations, hoping that students can design their own studies and research directions properly, so as to make a demonstration effect of the Strong Foundation Program.
