The inauguration ceremony of the Gansu Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis of Lanzhou University was held at Lanzhou University on June 15. Zhu Xiaoli, Deputy Director of the Gansu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Member of the Party Committee, Academician Yan Chunhua, President of Lanzhou University, Academician Li Can, Director of the Gansu Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis, Liang Yunsheng, Director of the Basic Research Division of the Gansu Provincial Department of Science, Technology and Technology, Jiangsu Weiunite Fine Chemicals Cai Zefa, general manager of the company, and Jiang Jin, general manager of Lanzhou New District Petrochemical Industry Investment Group Co., Ltd. attended the unveiling ceremony.

The unveiling ceremony was presided over by Dean Liang Yongmin. He said that the Gansu Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis will greatly strengthen our province’s strength in catalysis research, and will cultivate talents doing high-level catalysis scientific research in our province, enhance the ability to serve local enterprises and economic development, and thereby enhance the influence of our province's catalysis discipline at home and abroad.

 Zhu Xiaoli, Yan Chunhua, Li Can, and Cai Zefa jointly unveiled the Gansu Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis, and the Gansu Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis was officially launched at Lanzhou University.

Zhu Xiaoli, Yan Chunhua, and Li Can jointly witnessed the signing of a cooperative research project agreement between the Gansu Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis and Jiangsu Viunate Fine Chemical Co.Ltd.

Subsequently, the Gansu Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis, Jiangsu Viunate Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. and Lanzhou New Area Petrochemical Industry Investment Group Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement to establish a 10,000-ton pilot project.

Cai Zefa said in his speech that under the background of the national strategy of the Belt and Road Initiative, traditional enterprises are facing important opportunities and challenges, and enterprise transformation is facing major problems.He hopes that the Gansu Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis will focus on solving major problems in the development of the chemical industry, provide the chemical industry with a theoretical basis for transformation and upgrading, and give new vitality to small and medium-sized enterprises and a larger industrial chain and value chain.

Jiang Jin said in his speech that the company will actively promote the transformation of laboratory chemical catalysis research results in Lanzhou New District, enhance the innovation capability of the petrochemical industry in the new district, and write a new chapter in scientific innovation for the rapid development and high-quality development of the chemical catalysis industry in the new district. 

Zhu Xiaoli said in his speech that the Gansu Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis takes catalysis as the core and uses catalysis to solve key scientific and technical issues in the development of new energy, ecological environment protection, and high-end chemical development.The establishment of the laboratory further shows that Gansu Province will become a leading force in the field of catalysis in the western region.

Li Can said in his speech that the Gansu Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis is geared to the major needs of Gansu Province and even the west, disseminating high-end talents in basic research and application in the three major directions of new energy, environmental ecology and high-end chemical synthesis.He hopes to build the laboratory into a highland for attracting talents, form a national scientific and technological innovation team, build a platform for the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, strengthen the integration of production, education and research, and provide a powerful scientific and technological innovation engine for the sustainable development of Gansu Province.

Yan Chunhua said in his speech that the establishment of the Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis in Gansu Province is a major layout of Lanzhou University in the field of catalysis. Lanzhou University will fully support the Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis and make the laboratory a new highland for chemical catalysis research in China, and to promote the construction of Lanzhou University as a high-level research university.

Persons in charge of relevant municipal departments, representatives of enterprises and institutions, researchers from domestic and foreign research institutes, researchers from universities inside and outside the province, and teachers and students of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering attended the unveiling ceremony.
