¡°Visiting Enterprises to Expand Graduate Employment Positions" - College of Chemistry went to Lanzhou New District to visit partner enterprises

It is the "golden period" of graduate employment in 2022. In order to implement the special action requirements of "visiting enterprises to expand graduate employment positions", and effectively promote higher-quality employment of graduates, on April 27, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Zhang Haibo and Dean Liang Yongmin visited enterprises in Lanzhou New District, strengthened the comprehensive connection between schools and enterprises, identify the talent needs of enterprises, and made every effort to expand the employment positions of students. 

In the morning, the signing ceremony of the joint laboratory between Lanzhou University and Gansu Telford New Materials Co., Ltd. and the unveiling ceremony of the student internship training base were held in Gansu Telford New Materials Co., Ltd., Lanzhou New District. Luo Jia, President of Jiujiang Telford Technology Co., Ltd., Wei Shibin, Chairman of Gansu Telford New Materials Co., Ltd., Wu Hongyang, General Manager, Wang Qian, Vice Chairman and senior executives of relevant departments of the company, Secretary Zhang Haibo, Dean Liang Yongmin and related departments of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Leaders and representatives of some teachers in the joint laboratory attended the ceremony. Liang Yongmin and Wei Shibin signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of the two sides respectively.

Luo Jia introduced the basic situation of the industrial development of Gansu Defu New Materials Co., Ltd. He said that Telford Group will build an important R&D base in Lanzhou New District for a series of new products such as new energy batteries, 5G communication-related high-resistance copper foil, ultra-high-strength copper foil, and ultra-thin copper foil.It is hoped that through the construction of a joint laboratory and an industry-university-research base platform, sincere cooperation with the College of Chemistry will overcome difficulties, and promote technological innovation and industrial upgrading and transformation of high-tech achievements. Mr. Luo specially mentioned that the business of Telford Group is in a period of rapid growth, and the demand for talents is very strong. Realizing the localization of talents is the key to the high-quality development of the enterprise. Telford will actively attract more outstanding graduates from the College of Chemistry by providing training opportunities, employment positions, school-enterprise joint training and other channels.

Zhang Haibo expressed the hope that through the construction of joint laboratories and practice training bases, both parties will give full play to their respective resource advantages and use high-level scientific and technological research and development project platforms to meet common needs, mutual support, synergy and in-depth cooperation, jointly exploring market-oriented and socialized employment working mechanisms, and a systematic and precise transformation mechanism of scientific and technological achievements, promoting the integrated development of science and technology and economic construction in personnel training, scientific and technological breakthroughs, student employment, and discipline construction, so as to serve the country's major Demand, collaboratively cultivate industry talents, and truly achieve all-round mutual benefit and win-win.

In the afternoon, accompanied by Liu Dongbin, chairman of the trade union of Sinopec Group, and Li Chunxin, director of special technology, the delegation of the College of Chemistry visited Lanzhou's special precision new chemical technology industrial park and liquid sunshine base. The industrial park was successfully selected as a provincial-level small and micro-enterprise entrepreneurship and innovation demonstration base, with the goal of cultivating and optimizing the technological innovation environment and creating a "Science and Technology Valley". Liquid Sunlight adopts the world's best-performing large-scale water electrolysis hydrogen production technology developed by the team of Academician Li Can of the College of Chemistry, and uses a highly active solid solution catalyst to generate methanol with high selectivity and high activity. The liquid sunlight base is the world's first large-scale demonstration project for the synthesis of 1000-ton liquid sunlight. It was successfully commissioned in 2020 and completed the results appraisal. Currently, the industrial trial production of 100,000-ton liquid sunlight is being carried out. 

Afterwards, a delegation from the College of Chemistry went to Gansu Ruipu Technology Co., Ltd. for a visit and discussion. The two sides expressed that they would further cooperate in industry-university-research and student employment and internships. Ruipu Technology is located in the Fine Chemical Industry Park of Lanzhou New District. It is an emerging chemical small and micro enterprise mainly focusing on halogen-free flame retardant projects.
