On the morning of June 23, the " Laboratory Safety Lecture-First Aid Training " event was successfully held in the Guocang Lecture Hall 305 of the Shaw Biological Building. The event was lectured by Director Zhang Xianying, Dr. Tian Yafei, and Head Nurse Xu Liwei from the Department of Burn Plastic Surgery and Wound Repair of the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University. It was jointly organized by the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the college of Life Sciences, and the College of Ecology. More than 120 safety managers, some experimental technicians, student safety officers and graduate students participated in the event. 

Chief Physician Zhang Xianying gave a report entitled "First Aid for Burns and Treatment of Wounds", which mainly explained the rescue methods and precautions for the on-site personnel from four aspects: first aid, on-site treatment, timely evacuation, and treatment before entering the specialist department of thermal burns (scalding), chemical burns (burns), arc burns and electrical contact burns (electrical shocks) and other injurie. Chief Physician Zhang vividly shows the basic knowledge of first aid in front of everyone based on his years of work experience. At the same time, he gradually guides everyone to pay attention to their own safety, stay away from danger sources, and respond calmly and safely in case of danger. 

Attending physician Tian Yafei made a report titled "First Aid by Your Side", focusing on the standardized operation and precautions of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) technology and the "Heimlich" first aid method, and demonstrated it with a human body model on the spot. The demonstration activity pushed the atmosphere of the lecture to a climax. 

Head nurse Xu Liwei explained the related first aid techniques with the hemostasis technique and bandaging technique as the core. In particular, Nurse Xu and Dr. Tian cooperated to demonstrate the bandaging techniques for head injury, eye injury, ear injury, limb injury, abdominal injury, knee injury, etc. with triangular scarves and first aid wound bandages, which won applause from the audience. 

   Li Bin, vice president of the College of Ecology, summed up the training activities. He believes that the training activities are in line with the theme of this year's National "Safety Production Month" and "Be the First Responsible Person", everyone is the first responsible person for health and safety, and everyone should learn first aid skills and build a life safety shield for themselves, their families, and others.

This training aims to spread the concept of emergency first aid, let teachers and students learn first aid knowledge, master basic first aid skills, and be able to carry out self-rescue and mutual rescue in a timely and correct manner in case of emergency, so as to minimize casualties and jointly  improve the on-site rescue ability to respond to laboratory emergencies, and make positive contributions to the construction of a safe campus.
