The meeting was presided over by Academician Ding Kuiling, Director of the Academic Committee of the National Key Laboratory of Functional Organic Molecular Chemistry. On behalf of the school, President Yan Chunhua expressed warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the participating expert committee members, and introduced the school's deployment of the national key laboratory reorganization. Professor Wang Wei, the director of the laboratory, made a report on the reorganization of the laboratory, and introduced the preliminary preparations for the reorganization of the laboratory in detail from four aspects: "guiding ideology, existing foundation, reorganization framework, and existing problems". The expert committee members put forward a series of high-level insights focusing on the reorganization framework and existing problems of the laboratory. During the full discussion of more than three hours, the expert committee members expressed their deep hopes for the laboratory, and encouraged the laboratory to take the reorganization as an opportunity to face the challenge and forge ahead. Expert committee members pointed out that the laboratory should further condense the research direction and research characteristics, focus on the frontier of science, face the country's major needs, and combine the western characteristics to do original, systematic and iconic research work; The laboratory should focus on the layout of disciplines, strengthen organized scientific research, further strengthen the construction of talent teams, actively create conditions to introduce and train outstanding young talents, and accelerate the cultivation and building of national strategic scientific and technological forces. 

On the morning of December 24, the expert committee members listened to the laboratory's recent representative work report.Prof. Wang Xiaolei, Prof. Yang Ming, Prof. Shu Xingzhong and Prof. Ding Sanyuan made presentations on "Synthesis and Application of Functional Sugars", "Research on Diversity Synthesis of Several Terpenoids", "Reductive Coupling of Inactive Bonds Chemistry" and "Multicomponent Reaction to Build Organic Framework Materials", they reported their research ideas and latest work progress in detail. The expert committee members commented on the work reports of the four teachers, and put forward specific opinions and detailed guidance on the future research framework of the laboratory.
