Same Warmth, Different Festive Atmosphere —— The College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Holds the 2024 Spring Festival Event

"As firecrackers bid farewell to the old year, plum blossoms smile to welcome the spring sunlight." As the Chinese Lunar New Year approaches, the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has planned a unique Spring Festival event for the students staying on campus for the 2024 Spring Festival. This event aims to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture and warmly welcome the arrival of the Chinese New Year together.

On February 8th, at 3:00 PM, the event kicked off in a warm atmosphere on the 5th floor of the Materials Building of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. It attracted undergraduate and graduate students from different colleges as well as international students. Deputy Minister of the Party Committee's Graduate Work Department, Xu Qian, along with Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Jia Jing, and the Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Li Ting, gathered with the students to extend New Year's blessings and holiday greetings.

The event offered a rich and colorful array of activities, including various traditional handicraft projects such as bamboo weaving, making festive hats, traditional paper-cut window decorations, printing "Fu" characters, creating three-dimensional collages, and crafting auspicious ornaments. In a relaxed and joyful atmosphere, everyone had the opportunity to choose DIY projects that interested them. By personally creating unique New Year gifts, they expressed their anticipation and blessings for the upcoming Year of the Dragon.

Through hands-on experience in crafting, participants immersed themselves in traditional culture, harvested happiness and joy, and savored a unique New Year atmosphere. This not only sparked students' interest in Chinese traditional culture but also enhanced communication between Chinese and international youth. Samar, an international student from Pakistan, mentioned that through this activity, he gained a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional culture, describing it as a fantastic experience!

At the event venue, not only were various snacks prepared for the students, but also a surprise lucky draw session was organized. Teachers Xu Qian and Jia Jing presented chemistry-themed gifts and research blankets to the winning students, wishing them smooth research progress and a bright future. Finally, at the end of the event, New Year gift packages were distributed to students who stayed on campus during the Spring Festival. Participating students expressed that this event provided them with relaxation amidst their research studies and allowed them to experience the joy of the New Year and the warmth of "home".
