Chun-An Fan

Ph.D., Professor


Chun-An Fan studied chemistry at Lanzhou University, China, where he received his B.S. in 1999 and completed his Ph.D. with Professor Yong-Qiang Tu in 2004. He then spent one year as a CNRS Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Professor Henri B. Kagan at Université de Paris-Sud (XI), France. In November of 2005, he joined the group of Prof. Andreas Gansäuer as an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at Universität Bonn, Germany. In November of 2007, he obtained a full professorship position at Lanzhou University. His current research interests include natural product synthesis, synthetic methodology, and asymmetric catalysis. He has been the recipient of many awards and honors, including National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of NSFC (2018), Asian Core Program/Advanced Research Network Lectureship Award (2017, Korea & Taiwan), National Natural Science Award of China (2016, second-class; rank No. 2), Chang Jiang Young Scholar of the Ministry of Education of China (2015), Asian Core Program Lectureship Award (2014, Singapore & Thailand), Excellent Young Scientists Fund of NSFC (2013), and Thieme Chemistry Journals Award (2012).
