From August 24 to 27, the finals of the second “Weirui Cup” National College Students' Innovative Design Competition in Chemistry Experiments was held at Qingdao University of Science and Technology. The "Sulfur Brilliance" team composed of Fan Zhuo, Liu Zhe, and Yu Chenxin, students from the 2018 class of chemistry , won the special prize of chemical innovation experiment design after two days of fierce competition.  (instructors: Professor Fang Jianguo and Associate Professor Zhang Baoxin of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering) The special prize of experimental design, Lanzhou University won the title of Excellent Organizing Unit of the Competition.

In this finals, a total of 270 undergraduates majoring in chemistry and nearly 200 teachers from 90 teams and 90 universities across the country participated. Affected by the epidemic, the finals took the form of offline review by experts and online defense of the participating teams via video connection. In the end, 12 special prizes were selected (including 7 new chemistry experimental design, 3 improved experimental design, 2 popular science experiment design), 28 first prizes, 50 second prizes, and 8 excellent organizers of the competition.
