In order to deepen the study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, comprehensively implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and further promote the 'Integration and Dual High' construction, the Party Committee of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering actively carried out the joint construction of branches, continuously enhancing the combat effectiveness of grassroots party organizations. 

On the afternoon of June 12th at 16:00, the joint construction activity between the 20th Party Branch of Retired Personnel and the First Party Branch of the Inorganic Institute of the College of Chemistry was held in Room 201 of the Second Chemistry Building. 

Ten veteran party members, including Wang Liufang, Liu Peiqi, Chang Xijun, Tang Ning, Liu Mingzhu, Huang Feiyue, Liu Hong, Wang Kaixue, Sheng Fengling, and Zhang Xiaoying, participated in this activity. Jia Jing, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Chemistry, and all the party members of the First Party Branch of the Inorganic Institute of the College of Chemistry, as well as members of the Songlan Volunteer Service Team, attended the meeting, which was chaired by Du Shengyi, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Chemistry.  

The Secretary of the 20th Party Branch of Retired Personnel, Wang Kaixue, introduced the background and significance of the joint construction of the Youth and Senior Party Branches. He mentioned that veteran party members are the inheritors of the red genes, while young party members are the driving force behind social development. Through the joint construction of the Youth and Senior Party Branches, we can fully leverage the respective strengths of veteran and young party members. By starting from practical considerations and continuously exploring ways and means of joint construction activities, we aim to steadily advance towards the goal of creating branded service-oriented and learning-oriented party branches, following the path of "the young assisting the old, and the old guiding the young.” 

Furthermore, the veteran party members engaged in enthusiastic discussions on topics related to the party's original mission, the development of the college, the construction of the teaching staff, the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents, and the inheritance of the college's spirit.

Cao Jing, the Secretary of the First Party Branch of the Graduate School Inorganic Institute and the director of the graduate class, mentioned that listening to the "Lanzhou University Chemistry Stories" shared by the veteran gentlemen, he gained insights into the "original aspirations of Communist Party members" held by the veteran party members. He was deeply moved and greatly inspired. This experience was not only a vivid party lecture but also a baptism of thoughts. He expressed that, based on the integration of the graduate party and the class in the College, the First Party Branch of the Graduate School Inorganic Institute would cherish the opportunity of joint construction and work diligently to ensure effective succession, summarization, development, and innovation. 

The party branch secretaries from both sides signed the joint construction agreement and established a a working communication WeChat group.

During the meeting, Li Ting, the Youth League Committee Secretary of the College of Chemistry and a graduate student counselor, introduced the relevant information about the "Songlan" volunteer service team. This team carries out regular and personalized volunteer service activities for retired teachers from Lanzhou University. They use the "Lanzhou University bloodline" as a connection to convey love, support, and emotional care for the older generation of contributors. They also inherit the "Lanzhou University spirit" and educate the new generation of fighters to strengthen their beliefs and shoulder their missions through public service practice. 

The Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Chemistry, Du Shengyi, reported to the veteran party members on the recent important work and progress of the college. He mentioned that the history of Lanzhou University is closely tied to the academic history of the College of Chemistry. He emphasized the importance of cherishing and preserving this heritage, promoting integrity and guarding the spirit, caring for faculty and students, prioritizing human-oriented approaches, encouraging innovation and daring breakthroughs, fostering unity and collaboration, focusing on challenges and persevering, and continuously improving the construction of the teaching staff and the level of teaching and research.He expressed the hope that the two branches would collectively engage in ideological discussions, strengthen party spirit, emphasize practical work, and strive for new achievements in joint construction.

Finally, the young and veteran party members, facing the Party flag, collectively recited the oath of joining the Party.
